Electroplating

Overview:


Electroplating is a process where metal cations are driven by applied electric field and being reduced at the cathode surface. It’s a metal electrode position process that cooperate with liquid phase mass transfer, electrochemical reactions and Electrocrystallization. Electroplating system consists of a DC power source, a dimensionally stable anode (DSA), electrolyte and workpiece that is going to be plated (cathode). Chemical components of electrolytes could vary among different coating requirements, but technically they all contain salts that provide coating metal cations, complexing agent, buffer solution and other additives.


Anodes:2H2O→O2↑ + (4H+) + 4e-

Cathode:Mn+ + ne-→nM



Compared with traditional lead-alloy anodes, DSA when applied in electroplating presents multiple advantages:
